Does anybody have any favorite vegetable side dishes to recommend? I usually just steam green beans or asparagus and would like to add a little variety.

when I am tired of "same ol, same ol" I open a can of carrots, drain off the water, heat on in saucepan with 2 T margarine, butter. Add (about) a 1/4 cup sugar free maple syrup. Heat to bubbly.

We are new to crock-potting. I've tried them on high for 4+ hours and they're still hard.Other times I've soaked them but that still doesn't work. I've heard that some beans don't work. Is this eve...

Mattie ... are you sure your beans are fresh. I am assuming you are cooking dried beans. To cook dried beans, put beans in crock pot, with seasoning. Then fill 3/4 of the way with BOILING water. Turn crock pot on high. Leave for a few hours and all should be well.
