Barb thanks! I checked my pantry and discovered I'm needing 5 of these baisc spices. I'll add them to my grocery list.

Oops... my fingers jumped ahead "basic" I can spell.

Thanks Chef Heather. I'll check out that link in a few minutes. I laughed at my husband yesterday he wanted that chicken sausage pasta dish I made the other night for lunch but I had already given the leftovers to a neighbor to taste. Then he tells me it wasn't too bad. Oops, guess the next time he'll eat and keep his comments to himself!!! Heather, I love the thought of making my own seasonings for easy access. I appreciate the tips on buying spices.

I had to substitute a couple of things for what was on hand in my pantry like: Penne pasta, green bell pepper and frozen broccoli cuts. This receipe had alot of flavor. Plus my 2 1/2 year old grandson said he liked it. :) It was very easy to fix and serve.

Jan this sounds yummy! I love campbells bean and bacon soup but I bet homemade will taste off the chain. I'm going to make this one. You also asked me what stores were near me: Kroger, Publix and Wal-Mart are the stores. I mostly shop at Kroger and Publix. My daughter shops mostly at Wal-Mart. I need to find a butcher for sure. We do have this nice Germany mom and pop place around the corner that's always very busy. Think I'll check them out again it's been awhile. I remember the prices and quality being great.

My husband is *not* at his best in the kitchen or shopping - and it's not for lack of trying! He wants to help, but (and he'd be the first to admit it) it's often worse than no help. This isn't so ...

Just a good basic pizza crust.

Thanks Chef Leslie. I'd like something a little more basic. Prep time is a big issue for my family. I'm not that great in the kitchen yet but, working hard to feed my family from scratch as much as possible. Healthy from scratch cooking and freezing advice with recipes would help me a lot. Thanks again Leslie!

Thanks for the follow up Donna. This time Publix was runnung a special on their pizza dough in the bakery so I purchased two of them which were actually good! However, I did purchase some Fleischman's Pizza Crust Yeast to try. Package says it's fast and easy like 30 minutes. Aside from their yeast there's only like 5 simple on hand ingredients needed. I'll let you know what happens sometime over the next two weeks. Jack loves pizza so we may make it for lunch next week. I appreciate your quick response. Thanks again!

Does anybody have any favorite vegetable side dishes to recommend? I usually just steam green beans or asparagus and would like to add a little variety.
