I make almost every meal from scratch. I learned to do this years ago when money has been really tight. I only buy basic foods to make what I have planned. I raised 4 children as well teaching them the "how tos". They are wonderful cooks in their own homes now. We have done canning, freezing, baking, dehydrating, cooking and grilling. Whatever food you see, is made with ingredients, go look for them and you certainly can find a recipe on the Internet these days. There are a few things that we indulge in, but home made usually tastes best. And it does not take that much longer to prepare. If it does, plan ahead and use a crock-pot or another tool in your kitchen. When you just buy the basics, you save a lot, your house smells great and you feel good about yourself in a lot of ways.
