Anyone have any different ideas about using yogurt for snacks--especially something kids might like?

Are they basically the same thing, and if not, what's the difference?

Do you do it with or without ham? My mother always used a ham hock and then cut up ham to add to the finished soup, but I'd rather keep it vegetarian. What else can I use for extra flavor?

This may sound silly, but what makes a wok a wok? Is it the shape, or does it cook over higher heat? Can I only do the usual Chinese stir-fry in it, or could I use one for other dishes too?

Can I pull leftovers from the fridge and leave them to reheat in the crock pot while I'm at work? You know, something like a large piece of lasagna or some other one-pot meal?

Use color. What I mean is make every meal as colorful as possible and that is not food coloring!!!! It is from veggies. If there is color your meal will be healthier and mroe filling. If you make an omlet do it with more than egg and cheese. Add red and green peppers, spinach, onions. With every dinner prepared have a salad first to get some greens. Sandwiches should have lettuce, purple onions, shredded carrots. Add brocoli to anything you think you can. Full of fiber and good vitamines. Thanks!

looking for heart healthy habits. I'd like brand references and don't know if there is anything out there besides salmon or fish oil tablets that will give us omegas.

I love cottage cheese with either blueberries or lowrey's season salt in it. It is not because I'm trying to be overly healthy, I just like the taste.

Our schools don't have any low-fat options. I read that 90% of schools are supposed to have them. There's now way that's true. How am I supposed to let them eat at school and eat low-fat?

We're thinking about all of us doing a low-fat diet. I heard there used to be concern about this for kids, but that it's ok now. Is this right?

I read an article with some fabulous tips to change the way you eat to be more healthy. They have helped so much I wanted to jot them down really quickly.

1) I use smaller plates and smaller bowls 2) I put leftovers in tupperware -before- eating. (this is key, I'd say I consumed an additional serving while putting stuff away) 3) eat veggies on plate first 4) I almost only drink water 5) I allow myself a few treats to buy at gro store. That way I don't feel deprived and the crazy eating lady doesn't come out.

Well, the article said things like "drink only water" and I added the "I only drink water" ...Hope I don't sound like a know-it-all...it had just helped so much.

Since someone just comment on splenda I thought I throw this in the mix. My friend saw "King Corn" the movie and I haven't. I have cut out cokes.
Thoughts? Substitutions? Things you avoid?

Is it healthy for you? Is it the same as chicken and fish or more like red meat (want to eat sparingly)?

Pork is a nutritious choice of meat. By choosing chops or loin cuts you can have a delicious, moist, low fat protein. It is also high in nutrients without being loaded with calories. There has always been a fear of pork out there because of the scares years and years ago. Today meat is handled in a highly regulated healthy way so you can take comfort in that. I thoroughly cook my pork chops (to 140 or 150 though the fda recommends 170) and they are great.
