We loved this recipe!! So easy and flavorful. The only changes we made were our own personal preference. We used ground turkey instead of beef. Two cans of tomatoes instead of one and we had some black beans in the fridge leftover so I tossed them in too. I'm from New Orleans originally so of course I seasoned the meat and onions with Tony Chachere's! Decided to try it like Jodi (from above) and added sour cream and shredded cheese DELICIOUS!!! This is a keeper!

Kids hated it. Didn't like the cooked apples. I didn't think it was bad especially with more salt and pepper.
-
@Katie and @Heather, in my experience, kids LOVE apples pretty much straight across the board....until you use them in a savory dish. Here's a different pork/apple recipe that they will probably like: http://www.foodonthetable.com/recipes/54412-apple-glazed-pork-steaks

LOVED this. The chicken was so tender when it was finished. Added a can of Cream of Celery soup & extra carrots and some celery. Next time, definitely preparing more and having more veggies on hand for this one. =)
-
@Amy, we keep Cream of Celery soup to add to casseroles and soups...it adds so much flavor when you're in a hurry or DON'T have celery on hand!

Very tasty.

I cooked it on low. I work, though so I have to turn it on as a walk out the door and when it is done cooking, it switches to "warm". So it was still on warm when I got home from work.
-
I would suggest next time putting the cooking liquid or sauce on the bottom of the crock-pot and putting the meat on top. And like I said you could always add some broth, juice, or water to the sauce if you are concerned about it especially if it will be 'cooking' for longer than the recipe states.
