Tried this last night, was pretty disappointed. left it in the crock pot for closer to 9 hours and it was still too watery. went ahead with the vegetables and added it back to the cast iron then into the oven, thinking it may thicken up through that. but no, just meat, some veggies and very watery broth covered in crescent dough.

I assume I can make squash in the slow cooker because it takes a pretty good amount of time to roast in the oven. But how long would I cook it for. Does it need to be in liquid--and should it be ...

@Anonymous, thank you for sharing your tip for cooking acorn squash in the microwave! Very useful information. You can also similarly cook spaghetti squash in the microwave. Just pierce the whole squash several times with a sharp knife. Then cook for 10 to 12 minutes in the microwave, then let stand for 5 minutes or so afterward to finish steaming. Or cut the squash into quarters and microwave 6 to 8 minutes, allow to stand for a few minutes after cooking. Also both acorn and spaghetti squash can be boiled for 20-30 minutes.
