I was concerned about the saltiness of this dish, so I modified it by making the onion soup first, then added equal parts of rice to soup.

YUM!!! Used uncle ben's steam in the bag rice because it's what I had on hand so it was made very fast. Used Mrs. Meyers Onion Soup Mix. Kids and I loved it! Served as a side to Steak with Garlic Butter sauce.

Would this be good as a side for stir-fry?

Hi Anonymous! The flavors of the soup may conflict with the flavors of your stir-fry seasonings. Here are a few popular rice dishes that would work extremely well with stir-fry. Coconut Rice: (http://www.foodonthetable.com/recipes/344617-coconut-rice) OR Hawaiian Rice: (http://www.foodonthetable.com/recipes/344620-hawaiian-rice) OR Vegetarian Fried Rice: (http://www.foodonthetable.com/recipes/248904-vegetarian-fried-rice) Hope this helps!

This was surprisingly amazing! I can't believe how good it was and so simple and cheap! We topped it with a little sour cream and made a meal of it.
