Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 (pound) fresh tuna steaks, 1 inch thick
  • 2 (tablespoon) Cajun seasoning
  • 2 (tablespoon) olive oil
  • 2 (tablespoon) butter

Directions

  1. Generously coat tuna with Cajun seasoning.
  2. Heat oil and butter in a large skillet over high heat. When oil is nearly smoking, place steaks in pan. Cook on one side for 3 to 4 minutes, or until blackened. Turn steaks, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes, or to desired doneness.

    I made this last night because tuna steaks were on sale at my Whole Foods Market and it was super simple. It took me about 5 minutes to prepare. I put it on a grill at 450 and cooked for 2 min each side for 3/4 in thick tuna steak. In hindsite, I wish I would have just cooked it for 1 min for med rare. As a side dish, I sliced mango and put it on the grill too for 1.5 min per side. Tasted great.
