The drumsticks came out just as instructed. The taste, however, was not magnificent or something to be remembered. The crock pot option, as always, was wonderful.

@Andi, you could add a little dash of Tabasco for a little kick!

doesn't the chili sauce add heat or kick? I was going to use Sriracha because its all I have for chili sauce. Or is that WAY too hot?

I made it with half the chili sauce just in case it would be too spicy for my 2 year old and it was perfect! This was so delicious and the chicken fell right off the bone. I'm sure it depends on the BBQ sauce that you buy too.

@Heather, you're absolutely right about the BBQ sauce. Some are very sweet, some are very vinegary, and some are spicy! I'm glad you liked the recipe.

Made this for the first time today - for a potluck at work. EVERYONE LOVED IT! I actually doubled the chili sauce and used a smoky bbq sauce. It was great, and I will be using this recipe for ribs as well!

I didn't like them very much at all, but I agree that the taste will be completely different depending on the bbq sauce used.

Hi Chevy! While you can cook frozen meat in the crock-pot, it is not recommend. For best results, thaw the meat completely before adding to the crock-pot. This is to ensure the fastest cooking time and is to avoid any texture issues caused by cooking the frozen meat. However, if you do choose to use cook frozen meat in the crock-pot be sure and add at least 1 cup of additional liquid to the stoneware before adding the meat. Also you will need to adjust your cooking times and cook recipes containing frozen meats for an additional 4 to 6 hours on Low, or an additional 2 hours on High.
