Made this tonight - OMG it is great!.. I added salt, pepper, garlic and fresh basil to the turkey/tomato sauce. This is a keeper!

I made this the other night and it was very yummy. The recipe doesn't call for any seasoning which I found odd. I added salt & pepper and I also added half an onion and half a bell pepper when I was browning the turkey meat.

Sounds good, jullee. I would think with the sour cream and cheese, some spices like cumin, smoked paprika and such might be good. And some chipotle could be a great addition with the onion, too.

@Anonymous~ Those are all great suggestions on flavorful spices to add to this dish. Other options are oregano, chili powder, or browning the meat in some taco seasoning.

Your quite welcome Amanda! Since all of the ingredients are pantry staples and common in most spice racks that Taco Seasoning recipe is easy to whip up. And since most of the spices can be bought inexpensively in bulk this Taco Seasoning also makes a great gift to give at the holidays, delivered in little mason jars!

THANK YOU for this!!! The first casserole my picky 4 year old would eat, not to mention my choosy hubby! I made a few subs: FF cream cheese, reduced fat sour cream, ff cheddar cheese, and the wacky veggie noodles. I added salt and pepper, this was just so good!!!! Hint: Any time you bake FF shredded cheese on top of a casserole, cover with foil, it won't brown, but it will be nice and melted and GOOD...if you don't it will dry out and we find it "yucky".My son asked me to save him some for lunch..my daughter (2) didn't have any left. :)

I use "light" sour cream in most recipes and my husband can't taste the difference!

I used light sour cream, and 1/3 fat cream cheese and it was delicious. I minced some celery, carrots, and onion and browned with the turkey just to add some nutrients. The sauce, cheese combo was yummy. I wasn't a huge fan of the texture of the turkey, but it was on sale for $1/12oz at Save-a-lot so I bought a ton. :)

I made this the other night and everyone LOVED it. I followed the recipe except I added garlic salt to the turkey mixture. I was pleasantly surprised at how great it tasted!! My son wanted left overs for dinner the next night:)
