Ingredients

  • 1 (14.0 ounce can) salmon
  • 1/2 (cup) rolled oats
  • 1 (whole) egg, slightly beaten
  • (to taste) salt and pepper
  • 1 (tablespoon) cooking oil
  • (to taste) salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Empty can of fish into large bowl, remove bones. Add egg and rolled oats. Mix well. If mixture is too dry, add a teaspoon of water at a time, until it suits. Heat oil in frying pan. Drop prepared cakes in heated oil and cook for 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

    Should I drain the can of salmon before adding? What should I set the heat to- medium, medium-high? Add salt and pepper when adding the eggs and oats, right?
    Sorry for all the questions. I'm only a good cook when the directions are broken down to dummy-proof. : )

    Tried these last night , they were wonderful . This is a great example of something you make ahead and refrigerate overnight. I will try adding cheese next time for that extra kick .
