The Better Way To Plan Meals And Save Money

Benefits of gluten-free cooking?

I can't help wondering, since I'm seeing some gluten-free recipes... Is it supposed to be better to cook gluten-free even if you're not allergic to it? Is it just supposed to be healthier overall?

That's a tough question. A lot of people may not have sensitivities that are strong enough to be noticeable as allergies, but they may be prone to yeast infections, may not digest carbs well, may feel bogged down and sluggish if their digestive system is 'off'. A lot of us go gluten-free if our kids have to, just so we're all doing the same thing.

Well, I suspect that many people have sensitivities they're not aware of. We went GF for a time as part of an elimination diet, and while gluten turned out to not really be a problem for us, another related protein was--and because we all went GF to avoid that protein (gliadin), and we also eliminated refined sugar and cut down on dairy, my husband and I both found ourselves feeling much better as a result.
