When is food cooled down enough to put in the fridge?
FollowThe other night I left chili in the crock pot for my husband and kids, while I went to a friend's house. I was out for more than four hours, and came home close to midnight only to find the crockpot still on the 'warm' setting, and the chili--with meat--still steaming hot. I wound up sitting up for another two hours waiting for the stuff to cool down! What temperature would have been safe for me to put it away at?
