Humane lobster prep?

Just thinking of this makes me cringe. I love lobster and want to do a special dinner, but how do I do it? Also, any great recipes?

    I heard your're supposed to get them quickly with a sharp knife between the eyes, but I'm sure that would upset me so much that it would be much worse for the poor lobster than just being put straight into hot water.

    I confess to just plunging them into the pot, too. I used to always only do a very straightforward treatment with drawn butter, but the last few times I've done lobster, I've roasted it with tarragon and butter and it was delicious! But then, if it's good lobster, you really can't go wrong... I still remember vacationing on a tiny lobstering island off the coast of Maine, and at 4:00 pm every day we would walk down to the dock and get our lobsters straight from the boats for just $2 a pound. Amazing...
