Hi! I'm brand new to this site and I love shopping at Target, but frequent WalMart for groceries because it is so much closer. Is there a WalMart option coming soon or did I miss it?
Hi Anonymous! Welcome to Food on the Table! You are not the first person to ask about Walmart. However our program is based on the weekly sale items at each store. Since Walmart has 'every day low prices' they do not put out a weekly sales ad. Even though the services Food on the Table provides is to help you meal plan based on weekly sale items, you can still use our site to help you prepare a weekly menu if you choose to shop at Walmart. Also keep it mind Walmart offers price matching so if you use Food on the Table to plan your meals but if another store offers a cheaper price on something, bring that store's add to Walmart and they'll match that price.
You obviously don't shop Walmart! I rarely ever shop anywhere else because I can get groceries and all my other household purchases there. And you should know that they do put out a sale flyer every week so I'm not sure I understand why you say that they don't have sales.
Hi Tanya! Thank you for your comment and feedback! Walmart pricing is quite varied across the nation. Walmart rarely puts out a sales flyer, and when they do it is usually for a month, and not a weeks worth of sales. Most of the prices advertised are their regular “Everyday Low Prices,” or advertising their permanent "Roll Back Price;" so not truly a "sale price". As a result, we don't have "sales" to show our users. In the future, we hope to list Walmart in the directory, with any "everyday low prices" we find and let people include Walmart as their store of preference. However, right now we don't have access to these prices and don't have a good way to show them accurately. We hope that even if you are a diehard Walmart shopper you will still use Food on the Table for our meal planning services while you wait for Walmart to be included.
Thanks for the feedback, Heather. I have another question...When I click on my chosen store (which happens to be Target) it tells me there are no sales items this week. I clicked on another grocery store to check (Hy Vee) and it told me the same thing. Am I doing something wrong?
Anonymous, another user actually commented yesterday that they were having the same problem. I apologize that you and others are having difficulty with this task. I have passed your comments onto our customer support and technical support department and they should be looking into it soon. In the mean time can you please try clearing your cookies and restarting your browser? Or even trying the website in another internet browser, such as Firefox and see if this helps?
@Anonymous, I have no more feedback for you than Chef Heather did, but I always have the same issue with Target. My other stores all show numerous sales, but I never see any for Target.
Regarding Walmart, I bet if you contacted them AND Crest in Edmond, OK who has the same low prices...I bet they would be more than happy to supply you weekly/monthly with their prices. I'm sure they can send it to you in an email.
Another thing, I am extremely computer and app savvy, yet have a difficult time with both your website and app. Common sense stuff simply isn't there and I just tried to clear checked items on my grocery list to no avail :-((
I'm so sorry, Kathy. Some of what you're experience is probably a result of work that's been being done on our site during the last week or so, which has resulted in some temporary glitches. Please know that we're working to resolve these bugs with the app and the site as quickly as possible!
