I would like some recipes for someone on Coumadin. Anything with vitamin K is restricted.

@Terri, your question is such a specific one that I wanted to pass along some info straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Here's a link to a site with many Coumadin-safe recipes: http://www.drgourmet.com/warfarin/warfarinrecipes.shtml

@Patricia, I'd be more than happy to answer any specific questions, but I'd need a little more information in terms of exactly what you're looking for (in additional to saving money, of course!).

I really enjoy this service which I did upgrade from the 3 meal plan. The only thing I really wish it had is the side dishes included in the meal plans. I know some of them will have some thing like rice etc but very few even have that. It would be helpful and would save me a lot of time to not have to think about what to serve on the side and then have to go through the work of adding it to my grocery list so I don't forget to buy it.
Any suggests on what they have found works for them for including side items?

  • Donna (Food on the Table)
    Donna (Food on the Table)

Jessica, side dish recommendations are something we're working on right now; we realize this would make things easier for many of us! Until we have another way to handle this, please feel free to ask our chefs directly for recommendations for sides for any of your favorite dishes. They'll be more than happy to give you their suggestions, and I'm sure other users will chime in, as well!

I have a few questions about using the site and am unable to create a new discussion topic for it so I'm adding on to this one. Here are my questions:

    1. Am I unable to create new discussion topics because of the type of membership/subscription I have or is it a computer problem? I use Win XP and Firefox.

    2. How do we attach the various category tags to the recipes we create in our cookbooks? I see nothing on the recipe input page related to tags.

    3. When creating a recipe for my cookbook, I see no place for data such as number of servings, prep time, etc. Is this also due to the type of membership I have?

    4. Is there any documentation on the site that explains the various levels of access associated with each level of membership? I've looked and haven't found anything.

That's it for now. Really liking this site. Have used it for matching sales, coupons and recipe inspiration.

By the way, to further clarify, yes, I've tried clicking on the "start discussion" link on the homepage/dashboard. It clicks, but doesn't go anywhere.

  • Donna (Food on the Table)
    Donna (Food on the Table)

Hi Lynn, none of those things should actually be related to your level of membership. For all practical purposes, the level of access is the same no matter what your level of membership is, i.e. users can all add recipes to their respective cookbooks, and currently, users do not have the ability to tag, edit or add photos to recipes they've added. (That said, as we go through the various discussions, we do tag recipes so they're more easily searchable.) The only real difference in membership levels is that someone with a premium membership will be able to plan a full week of meals and choose from a somewhat wider range of recipes, whereas folks with the free membership can only plan three meals at a time. I haven't heard anyone say they haven't been able to start a discussion yet, so please let me look into that for you!

@ the last poster, I apologize that I couldn't take a closer look at your situation since I can't see a user name for you, but if you e-mail support@foodonthetable.com, they'll be able to figure out what the problem is. (One thought: have you by any chance already chosen three stores, and are trying to add a fourth? If so, that would explain things, since we only support three stores at the current time.) But please, let us know and we'll be happy to help--thanks for your patience!

  • i have not been able to choose any store. There are options in my area but it won't do anything when i click on the store of choice. It keeps saying I have not chosen a grocery store yet. Not sure what I am doing wrong. There are several to choose from and I have tried all of them. Nothing happens when I click on the balloon on the map or on the side bar with the store locations listed. frustrated.

Wendy, just in case you haven't seen this elsewhere, this is just a side-effect of some very recent changes made to the web site in the last week or so. Our technical folks are definitely looking into making sure that everything is as functional as it ought to be.

Thanks Donna. I think it must have had something to do with being a brand new member on the site for the first time ever. I closed my browser window and went back to the site an hour or so later and logged back in. Both issues seemed to be resolved. Thanks again.

I'll second Dottys comment. Prices would be nice and none of the stores buy us are on your list. A Copps grocery store option would be really nice. So would Aldi or Walmart.

@Anonymous, I just wanted to tell you, in case you didn't already know, that Food on the Table's Facebook app will at least show you all of the sale prices of your items in one place, which is handy even if it's not a brand-to-brand comparison.

Since the redesign, I am having trouble "editing" ingredients in my shopping list on the website. I can add items to the list but I can't click on the items, open them up and - for example - put them in a category or change the quantity. I think I should be able to do this but can't find the option anywhere. I can do it on my phone app so I have been doing my menu plan here on the website and then opening the app and editing there. If I can do it in one place it would be helpful. Thanks. I KNOW I used to do it on the site before the changes.

So I wrote that and then clicked on something to get back to my grocery list and it was the OLD view of the grocery list and it let me edit. But I have no idea how to pull that view up when I need to. There is definitely something odd going on.

Hello, I love food on the table, but how do I schedule a recipe more than once? Like my work sandwich that I eat maybe 8 times a month, how do I schedule it for the days I will make it?

  • Sarah (Food on the Table)
    Sarah (Food on the Table)

Hi Jennifer, at this point, it is not possible to schedule the same recipe more than once. You could add a new recipe for each sandwich, and schedule those at the same time. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Yes, it does help, thank you!! I would highly recommend fixing this situation....I know many people have the same meal several times a month, and it's "easier" to add multiples by date, rather than put in the same recipe 6 times...... A way to break up grocery lists would be good too. Idealy I'd schedule my meals for the whole month, then set the dates that I want my grocery list to run for (ie I will shop twice this month, so I'll split the grocery list in half, then check off what I don't need for the second one if I buy enough of it the first time I shop)

  • Sarah (Food on the Table)
    Sarah (Food on the Table)

Thank you for the great feedback, Jennifer! As far as splitting up lists, you can create a new store with a different title, and assign items you'd like to get later in the month to that store. For more information on how to create multiple grocery lists, please tap on the lower-case "i" on the the Stores tab.

Right, a great feature, however none of the stores I shop at participate yet, can I still make a list with that stores title??

  • Sarah (Food on the Table)
    Sarah (Food on the Table)

You sure can! On the Store page (which you can get to by tapping on "Stores" when you are on the grocery list tab), tap on the plus sign. From there, scroll to the bottom to "Add Another Store." This will allow you to manually enter the store (or name) of your choice.

I have submitted the same question multiple times via e-mail regarding juicing recipes. Even sent a PDF (of recipes from a popular website - no copyright) for you to enter or cut/paste the recipes. No response. I tried entering myself but as with others, they never seem to appear correctly when you enter. Please answer, why no juicing recipes>

Hi Anonymous! I've looked at our records and see that I responded to all of your emails via the support email (at the "nospamneeded" address). While we appreciate your feedback and suggestions to add juicing recipe, at this point, you are limited to the recipes you enter yourself. Thanks again for taking the time to write to us. We truly are working on making this a better experience.
