It's my understanding that those who are at high risk of heart disease, or have had a heart attack, do well to have an aspirin a day, but most often it's a low dose, such as a baby aspirin. It's always best to check with a doctor to find out if it's necessary, and what is the best dosage, because weight, as well as other factors, play a part in determining dosage strength. OTC drug instructions for adults are based on an average weight of 155lbs fyi.

According to a lot of studies that I have read that can be a big mistake. There are plenty of other safer alternitives to asprin. Please look up all studies on asprin and talk to your doctor.

IMO mainly an old wives tale.

latest research seems to say aspirin works for men, not for women.
