I read an article with some fabulous tips to change the way you eat to be more healthy. They have helped so much I wanted to jot them down really quickly.

    1) I use smaller plates and smaller bowls 2) I put leftovers in tupperware -before- eating. (this is key, I'd say I consumed an additional serving while putting stuff away) 3) eat veggies on plate first 4) I almost only drink water 5) I allow myself a few treats to buy at gro store. That way I don't feel deprived and the crazy eating lady doesn't come out.

Well, the article said things like "drink only water" and I added the "I only drink water" ...Hope I don't sound like a know-it-all...it had just helped so much.

At one class that I took they said to use green plates. Something about the color would help you eat less.
I agree using smaller plates does help.

Drinking lots of water is key. 8 glasses each day plus an additional glass for every 25 lbs you are over weight.

I also think water is key. I do 2 things myself = every Sunday night I prepare healthy snacks and put in tupperwares. Boil some eggs (for quick protein) cut up carrot/celery/zucchini sticks.Little cubes of cheese. I grab when going out door.

I add smoked paprika to my eggs and it gives them a bacon flavor - seriously! When I am making fried eggs, I sprinkle with salt, pepper and paprika. It is a rich smoky taste. Actually tastes like you've cooked them in the leftover bacon grease (but you haven't and that isn't terribly healthy anyway).

Watch the water. Depending on your body to much water is a bad thing. Ive landed in the hospital twice because water flushes everything including nutrients. Good idea to throw herbal tea, real fruit juice, ect to. Easy way to eat better...Shop the outside of the grocery store where all the fresh fruits and veggies, meats, and cheeses are.

yikes! Sandy, you really went to the hospital for drinking too much water? I bet you never saw that coming! I have not thought about washing away too many nutrients. Are certain people prone to this? I guess too much of anything can be bad.

Eat frozen grapes. They are great. Also, I put a lot of plain balsamic vinegar on my salads. The vinegar is supposed to help balance out the sugar surge in your blood that comes from eating bread and turns the bread into "fiber" vs. "sugar"

Oh and always start with soup or salad or coffee or tea. Something.

Kathleen yup some people are prone to water doing more bad than good. Not to be to gross but if your only drinking water a good way to tell youve had enough is by the color of your urine. Keep it a shade of yellow (never dark keep it medium to pale). If you go clear drink something like a real juice to replenish. Water is a great way for detoxing but everyones different. I found a lot of this out because I actually sat the doctor down to figure this out. What a sweet Doc he let me pick his brain =)

I bought my husband and myself pedometers. Granted it is a little dorky to wear them but we do for two weeks a month. We have a contest during those weeks as to who walks the most. We check on Sundays and winner gets a prize.
