To lower your sodium, cut out sodium rich medicines such as the antacids Alka-Seltzer and Bromo-Seltzer. A two tablet dose of Alka-Seltzer contains 995 milligrams of sodium while Bromo-Seltzer contains 761 milligrams in just one tablet. These two "medicines" will add more sodium to your diet than many processed foods!!!

One of the reason the mediterranean way of eating is so healthy is because of tomatoes and pasta sauce. Saturated fat constricts your arteries (a steak) but if eaten along with tomatoes/pasta sauce the tomatoes dilate your arteries (very good for your heart). Lycopene is what makes them do this.

I pour coke, coffee or whatever I'm drinking on my food when I'm full. (or smash my napkin on my plate). I am terribly terrible about continuing to nibble just cause it is there.

Eat 6 small low-carb/low-sodium meals a day. I think it seems weird that you lose weight by eating more, but you do! My mom does this and never feels deprived. She always carries a snack with her and drinks a lot of water.

    FIBER, FIBER, FIBER!

It is one of the best things for a diet. It keeps you feeling fuller longer so you won't be as tempted to nibble. Anything with flax is a bonus. I add flax meal to my oatmeal in the morning for added fiber. Apples, carrots always good snacks.

I freeze fruit! My best and most favorite is freezing banana. I put it in a regular bowl, sprinkle with cinnamon, mash it up and stick it in the freezer. I get it out few hours later and pour 1/2" milk on top and stir. The milk freezes and it becomes slushy. yum to the n'th degree!

When I get a sinus infection I take my nasal bottle & add 1/4 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp sea salt & 1-3 drops of a good organic tea tree oil (frontier is a good brand). Flush my sinuses with that & the infection is almost gone after the first use (only use for no more than 7 days). Tee Tree Oil is also great for acne, ringworm, cold sores, ect. Cheap and effective!

Being cold burns tons of calories. I've heard swimming laps in a cold pool, lake, etc burns 3 times the calories of running for the same amount of time.
