I found::: Quinoa (key-no-ahh) is called a grain substitute, and not a grain at all. Quinoa is actually a seed that sprouts. The good news, it IS FOR SURE gluten free.
It's quite tasty due to a light nutty flavor and you can add it to many dishes. It's found in the pasta/ rice aisle.
Quinoa is very nutritious and can be used in place of rice. Quinoa is a complete protein and supplies all nine essential amino acids. It is high in lysine and is an excellent source of protein.

    Try it!!

Quinoa intimidated me for a long time. Maybe because I couldn't pronounce it. Now I'm loving it. Good stuff.

Quinoa is definitely terrific stuff! I cook for a lot of kids with food allergies, and we even use a quinoa pasta alternative for them. :-) But I just love using regular quinoa as a base for salads and especially vegetarian dishes. To me, it's just so much more interesting than rice, even just with a squirt of lemon and a sprinkling of fresh herbs.
