Protein Powder and Blender brand question??

Hi everyone, I have two part question. As part of my low-fat quest I am going to make smoothies with almond or rice milk, fruit and I need a protein powder to add. There are tons of choices - soy, weight loss, hemp and I would really value opinions on which type of protein and which brand. Chocolate flavored, vanilla, plain.

Also, I never received a blender for a wedding gift and wondering if you have a favorite that blends ice well. Thanks in advance.

I don't have one because it is so expensive but I know Vitamix blender is the best of the best.

Go with plain so theres no extra ingredients in it.

It may sound silly, but a friend has one of those Ninja blenders they advertise in an infomercial, and she's made us great smoothies in it. Completely pulverizes the ice.

Ninja blenders are sweet! They chop, dice, shred, what ever you need.

Hemp Protein. You can buy it at Whole Foods and so good in smoothies. The reason I didn't get soy is because it is in so much of our food now and I figure why add it when there are other alternatives.

A guy at work who is a vegetarian told me about a product called Spirutein. It has a great balance and I think it has soy. You can get it at GNC - go with the vanilla flavor and you can't go wrong.

I agree about the soy, Julianna. Not that there's anything wrong with it in moderation, but too much of it can affect hormone levels, so we should definitely consider rice/coconut/hemp/almond alternatives when we can. I'd be curious to hear about specific brands people like.

Spirutein is good but makes it green. I like chocolate soy powder too.

If you contact a Shaklee representative in your area (can I say that here?) they have a product called instant protein. Start there and ask what other protein products they have for smoothies. I believe there are mocha and strawberry.
