Has anyone else tried this?

I ended up eating out at a new burger restaurant in town last night, and they had the option of goat cheese! I'm so used to using some more common cheeses like American or provolone, but this definitely added a little something extra to the overall taste! I can't wait to try it the next time we have a BBQ for my family and our friends in the neighborhood.

Has anyone else tried anything different from what you normally do that totally changed the way you enjoy a meal? I love getting new ideas like this!

Goat cheese on burgers is a great idea. I need to try that at home. Sometimes I'll crumble some blue cheese on burgers and it's delicious!

We regularly use green chile on our burgers - our kids will even eat mild green chile. In a pinch, we'll use jalapenos (spelling?)

My favorite additions to burgers are hummus (instead of mayo/mustard), horseradish sandwich spread, and mediterranian tzatziki sauce. So flavorful you can skip the cheese.

Turkey Burgers with Brie, red onions and fresh rosemary are healthy and unforgetable.

My boyfriend introduced me to 'Wolf Burgers'. Basically, you take two thin patties and place pepperoni between them. You have to be careful to leave lots of room between the edge of the patty and the pepperoni, because it will shrink. When it's almost done, we put mozzarella on top and cover the pan with a glass lid. When the mozzarella is melted, put it on a bun and garnish as you like. I like honey Dijon mustard and pickles, but my boyfriend just smothers his with marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese.

Buffalo burgers! Yep, buffalo meat. Tastes great, its extremely lean and higher in protien than beef.

I love turkey burgers and you can add cranberry jelly and spinach lettuce. Big fan of mushroom swiss or mushroom blue cheese burgers.

Cheryl and Mattie, do you have a recipe for turkey burgers? How about chicken burgers?

I have one that is sooooo goooood.:
1 1/4 pounds ground turkey (not lean)
    1/4 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
    1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 finely chopped shallot or regular onion
    2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
salt and freshly ground black pepper

I also love to add shredded or finely diced zucchini to my chicken/turkey burger mixture--it adds a lot of moisture, I think.

I was just watching a show with different ways to do burgers, and the chef mixed a package of frozen chopped spinach in with a pound of ground beef and one egg. It made a pretty nice looking burger!

I love a lamb burger with feta cheese and spinach. I have also made Thai chicken burgers that were really juicy and flavorful. Great to eat without a bun if you are trying to go low carb.

Well, this is on topic with something you wouldn't normally do with a meal, but not with burgers: We recently had a "Mac and Cheese Cookoff" (yes, it was delightful and carb heavy) and I made one with Vermont white cheddar, Gouda, and fontina cheeses, buttermilk, and butter. Very nice combo!

That sounds great, Ann Marie! We've done similar things with my foodie group. Some nights have been pairings, like Port and a Spanish dish, one night was all Indian food, one all BBQ. One night we even did all kinds of regional variations on hot dogs...
