I watch the Today Show when I’m getting ready in the morning and I’ve seen a lot of commercials for Jennie-O turkey burgers lately. The folks at Jennie O must be good marketers because I decided to pick this recipe. This twist on regular turkey burgers comes in at $4.12.
Bacon Wrapped Turkey Burgers
Servings: 4
Ingredients
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce ($0.03)
1 lb. fresh ground turkey ($2.29)
½ tsp. garlic salt ($0.02)
½ C fine dry bread crumbs ($0.26)
12 bacon slices ($1.52)
Directions
Set oven control to broil and/or 550 degrees. Cook bacon until limp; cool. Mix turkey, bread crumbs, worcestershire sauce and garlic salt. Salt and pepper to taste. Shape into 6 1/2″ inch thick patties. Crisscross 2 slices bacon on each patty, tucking ends under; secure with wooden picks. Broil with tops about 4″ from heat until turkey springs back when touched and is no longer pink, about 4 minutes on each side.

Just stumbled across your blog and I love this recipe! Turkey burgers and meat wrapped in bacon are two of my favorites, though I think I’d try to use turkey bacon instead of pork.
